Eyelid Eczema

Eyelid eczema or dermatitis is an inflammatory skin reaction causing red, swollen, and intensely itchy eyelids. The skin around your eyelids are highly sensitive to external triggers and moisture loss.

It is important to avoid direct contact with cosmetics, eye creams, fragrances and make up applied to the eyelids or around the eyes.Airborne irritants may trigger eyelid eczema such as dust mites, pet dander, pollen or chemicals and fragrances.

Nickel found in metal eyelash curlers, tweezers, and even specific metal eyeglass frames can cause an allergic reaction. Rubbing itchy eyes or wearing sleep masks and swim goggles can strip the natural skin barrier and irritate the eyelids. It is important to avoid anything that may come into contact with your eyes or facial area near your eyes.

Robertson’s Skin Repair Ointment has been found to be very effective for eyelid eczema. The thick moisturising properties along with cod liver oil and colloidal oatmeal provide the necessary elements to overcome itchy, inflammatory skin on the eyelids.
