Eczema is triggered from a variety of sources. your environment, lifestyle, skin products and diet can all play an important role. Identifying your eczema trigger(s) is never an easy task. One way which may help is by keeping an eczema diary. Notice any changes which may affect your skin and keep this up to date.

ECZEMA ENVIRONMENT: Take a look at your bedding. How old is your bedding, your mattress and your pillow? Is it time to update your bedding? Dust mites and mould are common triggers for eczema and can be hiding on surfaces and in wall cavities. You can have a mould test carried out in your home.

LIFESTYLE: Your stress can trigger eczema. Look for ways to avoid stress and therefore reduce your eczema flares. Meditation and deep breathing can help. Try to rest as much as possible, getting a solid, regular sleep will help.

SKIN PRODUCTS: Soaps, lotions, perfumes and shampoos can all affect your skin and therefore your eczema. Look for natural products that won’t flare your eczema.

DIET: Your diet can inflame your gut and therefore inflame your skin. There are many food intolerances that can cause eczema flares, especially childhood eczema. Look to eat a wholefoods diet and avoid processed foods.
